The first documentary I remembered watching was Ken Burn’s The Civil War. Having shared a room with my brother and sister, I had to wait for them to leave so I could watch the series on an old rotary dial television. The film’s use of creative storytelling techniques to mold a real life event into compelling cinema would ignite a lifelong passion for creative non-fiction.
Fast forward a few decades to me going to film school(much to my mom’s disappointment). While working full-time as a video producer and editor, I pursued my MFA in Documentary Film Production. After graduating, I took the plunge into independent documentary film where I worked on projects that would screen at Sundance, TIFF, SXSW, as well as being released theatrically, on television, and on digital streaming platforms. I also honed my production and post-production skills working with advertising agencies, startups, non-profits, and academic institutions.
So what else should you know about me? First, I take pride in my working class roots. Second, I love getting feedback…no really, I do; I thrive on collaboration. Lastly, I’m simply a down to earth person who is quite the delight to work with.
Oh also, I play the banjo.
